Trident-3D : innovating solution for GIS data collection on a large scale
Cadden has recently signed an agreement with Géo-3D, a canadian company, to promote Trident-3D in France. This integrated system allows to inventory and collect GIS data (Geographical Information System) for road surveying.
Trident-3D is an innovating solution, which requires the most advanced technologies in high resolution video, positioning (geographical and 3D) and photogrammetry, for collecting data from only one vehicule.

Completely integrated solution, Trident-3D presents 2 key features : data collection from a moving vehicule, and a unique photogrammetry process without equivalent.

"On the field" data collection : automatically and with high update rate
Several sensors are required for data collection : numerical video camera, DGPS receiver (Differential-GPS), inertial motion sensor and odometer. The software logs and synchronises the images taken by the video camera with the positioning and time informations delivered by the other sensors. Trident-3D uses an innovating photogrammetry process, developped by the Canadian specialist Géo-3D. The surveyor inside the vehicule can see each image taken by the camera and control the quality of data collection at any moment.
Each survey includes many video clips, from which each pixel is georeferenced. Traffic signs, urban furnitures, gullies, antenna's masts, buildings... : every visible object on the image is ready for GIS post-processing.

A flexible and multi-purposes solution
Depending of the application, Trident-3D is able to manage several video cameras in order to get a wider view. Even during GPS loss, Trident-3D continues to collect data thanks to the inertial positioning capability.
Other sensors can integrate this system. A laser scan will detect automatically every traffic sign or the transversal profile of the lane, a hyper spectral camera will identify parks downtown ; a temperature sensor to measure the building's insulation.

High quality images for GIS databases
Trident-3D includes a post-processing software, which extracts inventory data, process these data and export them to the GIS software.
Through an ease-of-use and multi-screen interface, the surveyor is able to get the georeferenced position from any object just by one "clic" on the image. Then he can associates to the object specifications and even vocal details. Trident-3D post-processing functionnalities simplify importing Vector images for quality control, and give access to advanced 3D measurement tools.

Significant gains compared to usual data collection process
A surveying team collects data over 300km per day. The inventories on very large territories become reality and are completed more quickly and more safety than surveyors walking along the road. Trident-3D identify many different types of object, in the same data collection.
More than 40 vehicules in 15 countries are currently surveying with Trident 3D.

Cadden expands its solutions in GIS applications with Trident-3D and is now ready to offer a solution specially fitted for road surveys, integrating productivity.
