A new entry level GIS tool
Magellan completes its MobileMapper series with the new MobileMapper 6. This model still offers a professionnal quality GPS combined to a PDA, and offers new important technological improvements such as an extreme lightweight (224 g) and a high level protection (rugged and waterproof to IPX7).

A new interface is optimised for the colour touch screen, and a 2 megapixel digital camera is integrated in this small product. Its real time 2-5m positionning accuracy make it the ideal tool for entry level GIS surveys.

Miniature AHRS integrated on miniature UAV
For many years, mini UAV (Unmanned Aircraft Vehicule) demonstrations have been organised in Europe and North America. France takes part of this great worldwide innovative development through the Challenge Minidrone, supported by ONERA (1) and financed by the DGA (2).

The main technical features required to compete are the engineering of a 70cm max. length miniature UAV, with one or more sensors on-board, and able to fly away from the sight of the operator, even in an hostile environment. The miniature Attitude and Heading Reference Sensors (AHRS) from Xsens are fully compatible with this project and its requirements. Already 7 of the 12 teams officially competing in the 2007-2009 Challenge Minidrone have made the choice of Xsens sensors !

A surprising Side Scan survey...
The French company, EMCC Armor, has been appointed by Voies Navigables de France (a public organisation in charge of the French river and lakes…) to accuratly locate a car fallen in the river Loire, downtown Nantes. EMCC Armor has rented Cadden’s Klein 3000 Side Scan Sonar to complete his mission.

What a big surprise during the 2 hours survey : if the car was rapidly located, also five new vehicules have been targeted on the same small area…
