The purpose of attitude systems is to supply accurate attitude data, i.e. the Heading, Roll and Pitch, without the help of external sensors such as GNSS receiver or DVL (Doppler Velocity Log) for marine applications.

The technology used (FOG, HRG) allows these systems, which are also called “North finders”, to supply true heading data accurate to one tenth of a degree, whatever the complexity of the environment (underwater, underground, etc.) and the dynamics (AUV, service ship, etc.)
